David Hoffman is a founding member and partner of Berryhill, Hoffman, Getsee & DeMeola, LLC. David earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Florida. He has been a practicing Certified Public Accountant for over 30 years, providing expertise to the firm in areas of business development planning and consulting along with tax reporting and planning which includes estates and gift tax. Part of his practice is dedicated to business valuation and litigation support and he has extensive experience in performing business damage calculations for eminent domain proceedings.
David is a current member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
David is also the founding member of the Business Valuation and Litigation Support Group. He received his education and training in valuation and litigation support from the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts’ Business Valuation and Certification Training Center and the Institute of Business Appraisers’ “Essentials of Business Appraisal” workshops. David is a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), a member of the Institute of Business Appraisers (IBA), the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA), and the Association of Eminent Domain Professionals (AEDP). He has performed hundreds of business valuations for business planning, estate and gift tax, transactions, and buy/sell agreements as well as lost profit analysis in the case of eminent domain proceedings. He has given depositions in many cases and has qualified as an expert witness giving testimony in courts throughout Florida for both divorce and eminent domain proceedings.
He has completed training in Collaborative Divorce at the University of Florida, Levin College of Law. David has assisted Family Law attorneys in hundreds of divorce cases involving valuations of business and by providing critical financial tax analysis to support a just and equitable settlement.
To facilitate knowledge and understanding of his practice, David has performed educational speaking engagements in the community. These include “Tax Affecting S-Corps in Business Valuations” for the Pusateri Estate Planning Symposium and “Construction Accounting and How to Increase Your Chances of Getting Bonded” at Ring Power Corporation in Ocala, Florida.
When not in the office, David is most likely to be enjoying one of his hobbies which include reading, fishing, running, golfing, and spending time with family and friends. He is a past president of the Optimist Club of Ocala and has volunteered for the Big Sun Youth Soccer League and Highlands Youth Baseball League.
